The Serenity Bible

Based on the New King James Version of the Bible text, the Serenity Bible includes only the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.

Entitled, Serenity: A Companion for Twelve-Step Recovery, this is another Bible designed for persons in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. Edited by Robert Hemfeldt, a psychologist, and Richard Fowler, a counselor, Serenity seeks to help people in restoring "addictive and compulsive areas of your life to proper balance and perspective."

It contains an introduction to recovery principles, the Serenity Prayer, a commentary on each of the 12 steps, and devotionals that are connected to each step. Passages of Scripture are shaded and identified by the step number with which they relate.

On the plus side are Serenity's small size, numerous features, and attractive format, characteristics that persons in recovery will find useful. On the negative side is the simple fact that it does not include the entire Bible text.
