The Inspirational Study Bible
Based on the New Century Version, the Inspirational Study Bible was published in 1995 by Word Publishing. Edited by Max Lucado, he and a team of editors offer helpful tools to expand the understanding of Scripture.
An introduction to each book of the Bible is provided. A series of "Life Lessons" follow in the outside margins of the Bible text. The "Situation" analyzes the context of each chapter, while the "Observation" explains the truth or lesson to be found. The "Inspiration" offers an excerpt from a Christian author, the "Application" gives suggestions on applying the lesson to the reader's life, and the "Exploration" cross-references other Scriptures with the same theme.
Following the Bible text are several devotional and study aids, including a topical index to devotional thought and readings, reading plans, and a dictionary/topical concordance.
While not a scholarly work, the Inspirational Study Bible can serve as an aid in deepening a Christian's devotional life.
