Catholic Study Bible
Published in 1990 by Oxford University Press, the Catholic Study Bible contains some of the best Roman Catholic biblical scholarship presented in a format that makes it available to a wide audience.
Based on the New American Bible translation, the Catholic Study Bible begins with general and introductory reading guides, and there is an introduction to each of the Testament divisions, as well as useful suggestions for reading Scripture.
Each book of the Bible is preceded by a brief introduction and is accompanied by translation and interpretative footnotes. The Bible text is followed by reference articles, including a glossary, articles on the lectionary, biblical archaeology, and history. It has color maps.
