A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream
Adjacent to and across the stream from the mill offices, the view is rather serene, as long as you don’t look too closely at the water. Note the storm drain on the far side of the stream.
Dependent upon Great Northern for its livelihood, elected and appointed officials have always given deference to
the mill, and have been afraid to look too closely; at the water or at the tax abatements being offered.
At a time when the mill directly or indirectly employed a large majority of the working citizens of Millinocket, this was understandable.
