This has to be more than a matter of simple rust. Iron bacteria describes aerobic bacteria that uses the oxidation of iron as a component in its metabolism. Heavy growths of iron bacteria form a substrate for other bacteria, causing further odor and corrosion problems, and increasing the likelihood of creating true health hazards.

I generally believe that professional environmentalists have done more harm to society than good. I am not an environmentalist, but still I think that someone should run some tests on this water so that we can at least know what we’re dealing with.
