A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

Such pretty red water; is it from the tons of rusting metal debris that litters the bottom, and the banks of the stream, or is it the result of some other contaminant? But no, the water is red even as it is being discharged into the stream. The drain itself does not appear to be particularly rusted, yet the water being discharged from it is distinctly red in color.

I am seeing some of the foam too, although I wouldn’t describe it as being yellow in color. And then, there’s the slimy, crusty stuff that is built up on the bottom of stream bed.

I think we should look more closely at that.
