A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

Even I didn’t want to step into that stuff, but it looks like someone did. Perhaps that answers a question that I had about the large number of shoes that can be found along the banks of the stream. I didn’t throw them into the stream, but I did discard the shoes that I used on this trip.

Note the omnipresent reddish stain, the oil lying on top of the muck, and remember that we’re still in the park. Hopefully, they’ll clean it up before the Wooden Canoe Festival next month; or perhaps they’ll persuade the mill to let some water through, once again hiding the mess.

As it is, I don’t know where they’ll manage to get to the water.
