A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

We have crossed the Cherry Street bridge, where I have parked my truck on the side of Congress Street. We are walking north along the western bank of the stream, adjacent to the park.

Yes, the ugliness is due to in part to the low water levels. But again, I will insist that the lowering water levels reveal problems that would otherwise remain hidden.

Note the oily mess along the water line, the rust-red taint of the muck along the shore, and of course the metal, plastic, and glass debris that is almost everywhere along the banks of the stream.

Let’s look more closely at some of this stuff.

The eastern bank of the stream adjacent to Congress Street.
