The Adventure Bible

First published by Zondervan Publishing House in 1989, the Adventure Bible, and the New Adventure Bible, promise a user-friendly Bible study, using the New International Version, the King James Version, or the New Revised Standard Version.

Key memory verses are highlighted in colorful type, and full-page inserts provide information on major Bible characters, the origins of the Bible, prayer, and other significant issues. Interspersed throughout the text are "Life in Bible Times" sections, explaining relevant cultural issues of the time, and "Did You Know" areas bring children to higher levels of Bible literacy. "Let's Live It" sections invite readers to use questions and activities to understand how the Bible can influence their lives.

Other features include introductions to each book of the Bible, an index, a list of activities, a dictionary/concordance, charts, and maps.

The Adventure Bible is a good choice for children, but its use of the NIV, the KJV, and the NRSV as a text suggest that it is best used by children who are at least 10 years of age. There are better choices for younger readers.

This one might fit as well into the "Teen Bible" section, as it's intended for older children or younger teens.
