Just beyond Dennis is the upstairs kitchen.
The problem with taking pictures around all of this nasty insulation is that the camera lense gets dirty fast.
With four sections of floorboards in place, I have a start. Initially, I was going to use screws rather than nails, thinking that they'd be easier to work with, and that they would hold better. I was wrong on both counts, and switched to nails by the fourth board.
Looking south from the attic entryway, stains on the inside of the roof and on the chimney indicate a roof that is in need of attention. As you can see, there is no window on the south side, only a small louvred vent.
The north side of the attic has a window, but the wood is in bad shape and it will open only a few inches. It will probably be easier to replace rather than to try to repair it.
Without the inclination to bring all of this junk back down the stepladder, I had to work around it until I could put in a floor that was large enough to stack it on. Part of the floor had adequate insulation, but much of it had only a couple of inches of badly deteriorated insulation material. Before starting on the floor, I laid new insulation in the parts of the floor that needed it.
