Apostle Jude / Thaddaeus / Judas Thaddeus / Jude Lebbeus

Saint Jude, as he is probably better known to Christians today, went by several different names, perhaps to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Christ.

The brother of James the Less, Jude is thought by some to be a half brother of Christ; while others claim that they were cousins. He is the author of the Epistle of Jude, which addressed the Churches of the East, particularly the Jewish convert, in order to counter the heresies of the Simonians, Nicolaitanes, and Gnostics.

Legend has it that he was martyred with Simon Peter in Persia, killed by an axe.
