A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

A rain gutter emptying water into Millinocket Stream. Mr. Conlogue, our town manager, says that no sewer water is being dumped into the stream, and that this is a storm drain carrying water from the gutters along the street, but there is water coming out of it and we haven’t had any storms. It has been dry today, yesterday, and the day before; they’re calling it a drought.

We’ve left the park now, and we’re in the area behind the houses along State Street. The water is reddish in color, and it smells. Although it is not foaming today, residents tell me that there is often a yellowish foam visible in the water.

Beats me. I’m just a guy with a camera.
