A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

As we move a little closer, nothing scary is to be seen. Artificially narrowed by mill construction, the water is moving fairly rapidly at this point, so it appears clean to the eye.

The Millinocket mill is no longer producing paper, but it is generating electricity for Brascan. There should be no suprises there, as Brascan is essentially a power company.

I am not an environmental wacko and, so long as the mill was producing paper and employing people, I am comfortable balancing the needs of the community with that of the environment; but at some point, when the industry is serving the needs of only a few people while doing terrible harm to the environment, we begin to lose a sense of balance.
