A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

As a community, if we were of a mind to, we could clean up the glass, porclain, rubber, cloth, metal, and other debris. It would be a major undertaking, but one that I would certainly be willing to help with.

This would make a huge cosmetic difference, and the absence of the corroding metals, in particular, would help to to alleviate the environmental concerns.

But who is going to rid the stream of its toxins? Increasing the water levels and allowing unimpeded flow to the West Branch of the Penobscot would dilute the toxins in a larger waterway, moving it on to become someone else’s problem.

Still more oily muck.
