A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

We can blame the mill; or we can blame everyone who ever threw a tire, a chair, or a bottle into the stream, but how would the blame benefit any of us?

The fair thing would be for those who profited from polluting the stream to contribute proportionately to its cleanup, but I don’t know that it would be reasonable for us to expect it. Those who profited most no longer live here, and will likely deny any responsibility for that which they left behind. In an effort to bring about a sale of the mill, deals have been cut, making it unlikely that former owners of the mill will be held responsible for restoring the conditions of the stream.
