Open Directory Project

I’ve been a volunteer editor with the Open Directory Project since late January, 1999. Prior to my involvement it was known as Gnu-Hoo, but it was going under the label of New-Hoo when I joined.  They quit using Gnu-Hoo when the Gnu people complained that the project was not truly open source, then they quit using New-Hoo after Yahoo threatened them with a lawsuit. I’d have thought the chocolate drink people would have had a better complaint against Yahoo, but that’s beside the point.

Before I go too far, I should perhaps clarify that this is my site and these are my words, none of which are the property or responsibility of the Open Directory Project, Netscape, AOL, or whoever might acquire the ODP next. Simply put, within these pages I speak only for myself.
