BEYOND TODAY’S HORIZONS

No life is ever completed. Interesting and challenging opportunities always lie beyond today’s horizons.

Even when Joshua was old, and well into his years, God set challenges before him.

When Joshua was old and well advanced in years, the Lord said to him, “You are very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.” -- Joshua 13:1

CONTINUING CONFIDENCE

Caleb returned from scouting Palestine to say that God would enable the children of Israel to overcome the Anakites, or giants, who controlled the land. Years later, when Moses was dividing out the land to the tribes, Caleb, now 85 and still confident of God’s sustaining power, claimed the very territory where he had earlier seen the giants.

“Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.” -- Joshua 14:12

EXPERIENCED COUNSELORS

When the Levites had completed the years of their service in the tent of meeting, their experience and devotion were not ignored.

They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the Tent of Meeting, but they themselves must not do the work. -- Numbers 9:26
