I hope this helps with the problem of ice damming. I have run into some unexpected problems on the east side, however.
Since I decided to leave the inactive chimney in place, at least for now, it will enter the new attic space, giving the appearance of a full chimney, since no one will be able to see that it ends a few inches short of the roof.
The prop vents will carry cool air up into the new attic space.
Things will really begin to move along once I start on the walls.
Still working along the east side.
I'm glad I have a staple gun.
