On the downside of having a heated working area, I've worsened the ice damming on the east side of the house. It doesn't help that the insulation has been packed into the eaves, preventing the flow of air from the soffits. But oh, wait -- Looking up from the ground level, I don't think this house has any soffits. I'll fix that in the spring too, once I can get close enough to examine it more closely. Meanwhile, I guess I'll work in the cold.
The wetting of the wood is restricted to one small area, fortunately.
I hate water.
I get the feeling that the crossbeams were never intended to provide structural support. They were obviously added at some point well after the house was built, and you can see that they were put in almost haphazardly. I think they were intended simply to provide a place to store stuff, there having been no floor until I put one in.
I guess the attic might benefit from a few less pictures and a little more work.
The southeast side.
