A Walking Tour of Millinocket Stream

The water here is dark, brownish red in color, much the same as the muck that surrounds it. There is oil everywhere; on the grass along the banks, mixed in with the mud, and on the surface of the water.

We are north of the Central Street bridge, in an area where I wouldn’t imagine very many people go, yet there is a lot of rusted metal debris in the stream and along it; corroded pieces of equipment, lengths of pipe, and chunks of rusted iron and steel in various shapes and sizes.

Metal in the muck.
