Christ is Blessing Children Today

Shall we refuse the little children to come to Jesus Christ as he is in the midst of the assembly? Shall we, like his disciples, arouse his indignation? They are his children after all, and he wants to bless them.

On the contrary, we should not only allow, but insist that the children come. We cannot keep them out without bringing down on ourselves the indignation of our Lord.

Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? -- Luke 11:11-13

Can we provide something more for our children than to bring them into the living presence of Jesus Christ as he declares the Father’s name to his brothers?

Would we, for our children, substitute a nursery in place of the presence of the Spirit of Jesus Christ as he sings praises to God in the midst of the Church?

    Blow a trumpet in Zion,
Consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,
Gather the people, sanctify the congregation,
    Assemble the elders,
Gather the children and the nursing infants.
Let the bridegroom come out of his room
And the bride out of her bridal chamber. -- Joel 2:15-16
