    “For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel - these are the eyes of the Lord which range to and fro throughout the earth.” -- Zechariah 4:10

Small beginnings seldom inspire confidence or bring commendation, yet no great work is done which did not begin as a modest undertaking. Rebuilding the temple seemed to some to be an incredibly ambitious project, but even those who despise the day of small things will rejoice when the work is completed.

    I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a wilderness,
    And all its cities were pulled down
    Before the Lord, before His fierce anger.
    -- Jeremiah 4:26

The best plans of men may fall but, with God’s help life may once more be like a watered garden.

    And the Lord will continually guide you,
    And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
    And give strength to your bones;
    And you will be like a watered garden,
    And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
    -- Isaiah 58:11
